Experience Lofoten through history and raw nature
At Livland Farm, the adventure awaits – raw, wild, and real.
Spring and Summer – Mountains, Sea, and Cultural Heritage
When the light returns, nature comes to life. Spring is the time for the first mountain hikes, where you can follow old paths used by the Sami and the first settlers. We will take you to historical viewpoints where you can see traces of mining and old hunting areas, while we share the story of how people have survived in this dramatic landscape.
On the sea, you can join a traditional Nordland boat, the same type that took fishermen to the historic winter fishery in Lofoten. Feel the waves against the hull as you learn about the historical rowing and sailing techniques that made these boats the lifeline for coastal communities.
Summer opens the door to long adventures under the midnight sun. Here, the days are endless, and you can hike through the mountains to old hunting grounds where the last bears in Nordland were shot. We tell the stories of the people who once lived close to predators and how nature has always been both a source of survival and danger.

Autumn and Winter – Northern Lights, Snowshoes, and Stories of the Sea
When autumn comes, the landscape changes color, and the air becomes sharper. The trails we follow become less used, and we move along overgrown paths through valleys that have been hunting grounds for generations. This is the time for stories around the fire, about hunting, survival, and how nature gave, but also demanded its due.
Winter lays a white blanket over the landscape, creating a silence that most can offer. With snowshoes on your feet, you can explore mountains and valleys where the northern lights dance across the sky and the cold air carries the echoes of old stories. We take you to the campfire, where we share tales of coastal whaling, dangerous winter storms, and the men who risked their lives to secure food and income.
For those who wish to experience the sea in winter, we offer tours where we look at the fisheries and tell the story of Lofoten fishing – a centuries-old tradition where fishermen ventured out in open boats to face the elements. We show you how the coast has been a lifeline for generations and how the stories of the sea still live on today.
